Welcome back to the Beyond Rankings series on SEOTalk, where we spotlight practitioners navigating the real-world shifts in search engine optimization and the newer AEO/GEO space.
This month, we highlight Proma Nauutiyal, a highly accomplished member of the SEOTalk community. From cracking local search visibility in competitive markets to harnessing Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and leveraging TikTok in the SERPs, we dive into what it takes to turn modern search tactics directly into bottom-line revenue.
Interview with Proma Nauutiyal
Q1. What does your current SEO work look like — role, company type, what you’re focused on?
I am a founder doing my own marketing. My major focus right now is on Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and social media SEO. Because search behaviors are shifting toward multi-platform discovery and generative answers, I concentrate on building visibility where users are actively asking questions and engaging with content.
Q2. What’s a win you’re most proud of in the last year? (Doesn’t have to be a huge number, any breakthrough counts.)
Having launched our website just a few months ago in a space with several close-radius competitors, I am most proud of two major breakthroughs:
- Local Search Dominance: Managing to reach the #1 spot in local SEO despite starting from scratch in a competitive local market.
- Social Content Indexing: Seeing our TikTok content pop up directly in search engine results pages (SERPs).
Achieving both of these within months of launch showed me that hyper-relevant content paired with modern multi-platform optimization works.
Q3. What is that one SEO thing you used to believe that you’ve since changed your mind on?
I wouldn’t say I completely changed my mind, but my perspective on technical and on-page elements such as keywords, schema, meta descriptions, and page structure has significantly evolved regarding how much manual effort goes into each.
For example, I don’t labor over exact keyword usage anymore. Experience has shown that when you focus primarily on relevance, context, and quality, your content will naturally rank and show up sooner or later without aggressive keyword stuffing.
Q4. What is a tool, resource, or habit that’s genuinely made your work better recently?
Using a multi-LLM cross-verification process with Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT.
Whenever something unexpected happens with site performance, indexing, or ranking, I ask the models to diagnose the issue and share insights. This habit has saved me a tremendous amount of research time.
Key Habit: I make it a point to ask the exact same diagnostic questions across 2–3 different AI platforms to cross-check recommendations and ensure I am acting on accurate advice.
Q5. What is one piece of advice you’d give a mid-level SEO who wants to get to the next level?
Don’t fall in love with vanity metrics. Read your analytics like a story, and just like finding the moral behind a story, ask yourself: Are these numbers actually generating revenue?
SEO shouldn’t stop at rankings or traffic volume. The real goal is identifying gaps or misalignments between SEO traffic and bottom-line revenue:
- If there is a gap: Ask why the traffic isn’t converting.
- If there isn’t a gap: Figure out how to leverage what’s working to scale revenue further.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize Intent & Relevance: Context and overall quality matter far more than hyper-focusing on exact keyword placements.
- Expand Beyond Traditional SERPs: Social platforms like TikTok are powerful search channels that can also index directly in search results.
- Cross-Verify AI Insights: Maximize productivity by consulting multiple AI models for technical analysis and benchmarking their answers.
- Focus on Bottom-Line Impact: Measure search success by revenue alignment rather than ranking positions alone.
